  • Biology 131, Introductory Biology.   
    Biology 131 is a one semester college-level biology course which fulfills the lab science requirement for general education students and serves as a prerequisite for students enrolling in advanced biology courses. It is designed to transfer to neighboring institutions such as the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Wayne State University and Eastern Michigan University.  Topics covered include ecology, cell biology, genetics, plant structure and function, and animal structure and function. Lectures and laboratory work are coordinated. There are three hours of lecture and three hours of lab per week. This is a one-semester course designed for non-majors. 

  • Biology 138, Environmental Science Lecture. 
    Three hours of lecture per week

  • Biology 139, Environmental Science Laboratory
     Three hours of laboratory per week. 

  • Environmental Studies Program
    The Environmental Studies Program is designed to transfer to the University of Michigan-Dearborn

  • Biology 141, Botany. 
    Three hours of lecture and four hours of laboratory per week. 

  • Science 210, Introduction to Science for Elementary Teachers. 
    This is the first science course in a sequence intended for pre-service elementary and middle school education majors.  The course will introduce students interested in teaching to a broad overview of both science instruction and the process of science. Students will investigate, discuss and design experiments using the group inquiry method of instruction  Students will use inquiry-based learning.   Four hours of combined lecture and laboratory per week.  This class transfers to the University of Michigan-Dearborn as EXPS 220.

  • Science 213, Learning by Inquiry: Life Sciences. 
    This course is designed to provide pre-service elementary and middle school teachers with the necessary tools, knowledge, and motivation to teach basic biological concepts. In this course students should learn how to integrate major biological themes and be able to relate how the topics covered in the course fulfill the National Science Education Standards and the Michigan Curriculum Framework. Students will use inquiry-based learning.  Four hours of combined lecture and laboratory per week. This class transfers to the University of Michigan-Dearborn as NSCI 233.

  • Honors Directed Studies. 
    One credit hour.  Students must be enrolled in the Honors Program on campus.  Contact Dr. Nabeel Abraham for information.
