  • Study of the life and physical sciences is an essential part of a comprehensive higher education experience. An understanding of science helps prepare a citizen to contribute in a meaningful way to our rapidly changing and increasingly technology dependent society. The Science Division supports the mission of Henry Ford Community College by offering a rigorous and broad-based science curriculum designed to
    • enhance the students' appreciation of science;
    • establish a strong foundation for students transferring to four-year colleges and universities for further study in the natural sciences, engineering, and professional degree programs;
    • fulfill the science graduation requirements for students working towards associate and bachelor degrees at this and other institutions;
    • fulfill science requirements for students in nursing and other health careers;
    • provide a solid framework for students in elementary and secondary education programs.

     The Science Division of Henry Ford Community College is dedicated to advancing our students'

    • understanding of scientific facts and concepts,
    • critical thinking and communication skills, and
    • abilities to conduct logical scientific investigations utilizing safe laboratory practices.

    We measure learning by assessing students' abilities to use knowledge, to apply investigative skills, and to understand concepts, which together provide the bases both for informed decisions in life and for further studies in the sciences.
